Cetina river canyon

July 18, 2025

The cold but clear water of the Cetina river is a sight worthy of a drive in itself. Add the wonderful, green and lively nature surrounding it, and the canyon becomes a perfect place to visit when you feel disconnected from the world and need to find your peace again. As Dalmatia's longest river, the Cetina and its roughly 100-kilometre course have a great deal to offer.

The impressive flora and fauna along the river are sure to stir something in everyone who experiences them. The river itself holds significant historical and cultural value, as its banks have been inhabited for centuries and it has long served as an important water source for the surrounding villages. These settlements offer a glimpse into Dalmatia's past, where centuries of pastoral life based on sheep farming and agriculture have left a lasting impression. One picturesque example is Radmanove Mlinice, or Radman's Mills, which the Radman family transformed into a countryside retreat in the 18th century. It has remained a popular day-trip destination ever since.

The canyon also offers a wide variety of sporting activities, from canyoning and rafting to a peaceful walk through nature. Whatever you choose, one thing is certain: you will leave feeling a little more connected to the spirit of Dalmatia.
