Peruća lake

The third-largest lake in Croatia, Peruća is an artificial lake created by the construction of the Peruća dam. Its surface covers around 15 km², while its depth—which varies throughout the year—reaches up to 65 metres. Beyond its practical uses, Peruća lake is a dazzling hidden gem of the Dalmatian countryside and a unique setting for all kinds of summer outdoor activities.

Built in the 1960s, the dam was constructed together with the Peruća hydroelectric power plant. The lake serves as a reservoir, storing water and regulating the river's flow through the surrounding fields.

Thanks to the lake's calm water and expansive surface, it is ideal for rowing—so why not grab some oars and test the waters yourself? It is also a great place for kayaking, swimming, fishing, water sports or simply bringing some food and enjoying a picnic.

The surrounding landscape has retained its wild appearance, while the lake itself is peaceful and serene, with crystal-clear blue water and a refreshing temperature even on the hottest summer days. Occasionally, when the water level is low, you can even see submerged houses and the old Dragović Monastery, which now belong to the sunken depths of Peruća.
